International Youth Day 2026

On 12th August 2026, the Mombasa County Taekwondo Association (MCTA) joined the County Government of Mombasa, led by H.E. Governor Abdulswamad Shariff and Waziri Mr. Jonathan Wepukhulu, in celebrating International Youth Day 2026 at Tononoka Hall.

The event brought together young people, leaders, community stakeholders, youth organisations, and partners to celebrate the important role of young people in shaping stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities. It was also an opportunity to highlight the importance of investing in youth through education, sports, skills development, and positive mentorship.

MCTA Showcases the Power of Taekwondo

Our Taekwondo team proudly demonstrated and showcased their skills, discipline, confidence, teamwork, and commitment to empowering young people through sport. Their demonstration highlighted how martial arts can provide young people with a positive environment where they can develop physical fitness, self-confidence, respect, leadership, and a strong sense of responsibility.

Beyond competition, Taekwondo provides an avenue for young people to build meaningful relationships, develop healthy routines, set goals, and discover their potential. MCTA remains committed to ensuring that sport continues to play a meaningful role in youth development across Mombasa County.

Kicking Out Drugs in Mombasa County!

This year, MCTA continues to champion the powerful message of Kicking Out Drugs in Mombasa County! Through Taekwondo, we are using sport as a positive tool to keep young people active, disciplined, focused, and away from drugs and substance abuse.

We believe that prevention begins with creating opportunities. By giving young people access to structured training, positive mentorship, teamwork, and healthy activities, we can help them make responsible choices and build confidence in their ability to shape their own futures.

Building a Healthier Generation

International Youth Day reminds us that young people are not only the leaders of tomorrow but also important contributors to the communities we live in today. Their talents, ideas, energy, and determination can transform society when they are supported with the right opportunities and guidance.

MCTA appreciates the County Government of Mombasa and all partners, youth leaders, coaches, parents, athletes, and stakeholders who continue to support initiatives that promote positive youth development through sport.

As we celebrate International Youth Day 2026, let us continue working together to create opportunities that inspire young people to choose discipline over drugs, purpose over peer pressure, and healthy living over harmful habits.

Together, let us build a healthier, stronger, disciplined, and drug-free generation in Mombasa County.
