Official Launch of the UNESCO ICM Martial Arts Open School Programme in Mombasa County

The Mombasa County Taekwondo Association is pleased to announce the launch of the UNESCO International Centre of Martial Arts Open School Programme in Mombasa County. The 12 week initiative will be hosted at Patana Academy Hall, Likoni Sub County and is designed to empower young people through Taekwondo training and Global Citizenship Education.
The programme promotes discipline, leadership, healthy lifestyles, and social responsibility while providing participants with valuable life skills that extend beyond the training hall. Through a balanced approach to education and physical activity, the initiative aims to nurture confident, responsible, and community minded young people.
Programme Objectives
The programme is expected to engage between 150 and 180 participants, with a strong commitment to ensuring that at least 60 percent of participants are girls. This reflects our dedication to promoting equal opportunities and encouraging greater participation of girls in sport and leadership development.
Weekly Programme Schedule
Wednesday: Global Citizenship Education
Thursday: Physical Fitness and Taekwondo Training
Friday: Physical Fitness and Taekwondo Training
Time: 3:45 PM to 5:00 PM
Coaches are encouraged to bring their children and support this initiative by helping us reach more young people who can benefit from this unique learning opportunity.
Environmental Action Initiative
As part of our commitment to responsible citizenship and environmental conservation, participants will take part in monthly beach cleanup activities. These activities will help create a cleaner, safer, and healthier coastal environment while promoting environmental awareness, teamwork, and community service.
